Charity: Elm Sky by Merlyn Chesterman

Elm Sky by Merlyn ChestermanEarly in 2011, around the time we first started discussions about selling Merlyn Chesterman's beautiful original woodcut prints, a major Japanese earthquake struck, followed by an even more devastating tsunami. The country was sent into turmoil and is still dealing with the aftermath.

Thinking beyond the appalling consequences for the people of Japan, their welfare and their property, Merlyn wondered how animals close to the Tohoku disaster area were coping. Although it is some months after the worst of the devastation, both the human and the animal suffering continue.

We searched out an appropriate charity to benefit from a percentage of the profits from one of Merlyn's prints, the atmospheric Elm Sky. You can read more about this story on the charity page. Or head straight to the Open Editions page to buy an Elm Sky print.
