Still Life – Fossils by Jennifer Copley-May, Original watercolour on acid free paper 200x250mm mounted, artwork 120x160mm
I’ve called this Still Life, because it really is. Fossilised remains are very still and flints even more so. Thus, I turned my flints into a still life and then found them interesting to paint, because individually they don’t make for very exciting viewing, except perhaps for a geologist.
The fossils were borrowed, and the flints are all from the garden where they are rather a nuisance, being hard and mostly sharp.
