The Armadillo Central team was thrilled to be approached for a third time by the Marmalade Films crew, to hire Jennifer Copley-May’s Magic Serpent and Juliet Kepes’ Appleby for Paddington in Peru.
Magic Serpent by Jennifer Copley-May, 259 x 649mm, fine art print on 310gm acid free Hahnemühle paper
Both artworks appeared in Paddington 1 alongside several others, including Jennifer’s The Open Way and Romany Tea, as well as Juliet’s Rosetta and Birds on a Wire.

The prints were then hired again for the sequel, Paddington 2, in 2017. Appleby is a small print and Juliet’s little chicken has been hard to capture on a screengrab. Anyone out there want to try and catch the rooster? We’d love a screenshot – come on, don’t be chicken…

The original Paddington Bear film’s director and writer, Paul King, wanted to decorate the Browns’ house with artworks created by English artists only, and we were more than happy to oblige. We were representing two other English artists at the time, whose works also appeared.
Paddington in Peru
Last year, 2024, saw the planning of Paddington in Peru and the Marmalade team were back in touch.
Having moved twice in between we had to track down the artworks in their original frames, thankfully located.
Paddington 3 was released in the UK in November 2024 and in February of this year in the US. And the rest, as they say, is history.

As we slither our way through the Year of the Snake, you might well be interested in capturing a Magic Serpent.
